Dynamics & level

Headroom before encoding

Separates sonic character from the level sent to MP3 encoding.

How it works

An attenuation of 0–6 dB after the limiter creates room for peaks that may appear during encoding and decoding. It is selected at startup. Existing MP3 tests guide calibration; the appropriate margin depends on source and codec and is not a universal guarantee.

Use and limits

Results depend on the selected profile, source material, input level and distribution chain. Listen at matched loudness and check output after the codec before keeping a preset.
